James Earnest Obituary

We are sad to announce that on November 5, 2021 we had to say goodbye to James Earnest of Wapello, Iowa. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

He was predeceased by : his parents, Robert Earnest and Pearl Earnest (Deam); and his siblings, Clarence Earnest, Pauline Swafford and Helen McKinney.

He is survived by : his wife Shirley Ann Miller of Wapello; his children, Steve Earnest (Lora) of Wapello, Linda Tyrrell (Ron) of DeKalb and Todd Earnest (Kim) of Wapello; and his grandchildren, C. J. Earnest, Annie Tyrrell, Jason Delzell, Keri Butler and Alex Earnest. He is also survived by eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Wapello Fire and Rescue or the Wapello United Methodist Church in memory of James.

“When we moved to Wapello Iowa in 1982, we had contact with Jim because he was a real estate agent and we were looking for a house to buy. He took us under his wing and treated us like we were family. He was hospitable, kind and Jim and Shirley were our closest friends. It was heartbreaking to hear the news of his passing. Jack and Terri deere”
