She was predeceased by: her parents, Gerald Garrett and Irene "Gail" Hendershot (Covert); her husband Lauren J. Fisher Sr.; her son Michael "Mike" Murphy; her granddaughter LeAnn; her great grandchild Jackson; her stepgrandchild Cochise; her siblings, Buddy Gerald and Julia Shirley; and her siblings-in-law, Helen Hendershot and George Ryan.
She is survived by: her children, Susan Van Pelt (John) of Burlington and Patrick Murphy (Gladys) of Wapello, Iowa; her daughter-in-law Debbie Murphy of Fort Madison, Iowa; her stepchildren, Laurie Marshall (Rory) of Wilton, Linda Silva (John) of Muscatine, Iowa, Bruce Fisher of Muscatine, Iowa and Lauren Fisher, Jr. of Muscatine, Iowa; her grandchildren, Miranda, Anna, Jason and Leann; her great grandchildren, Emma, Lydia, Eliza, Gus, Caroline, Hannah, Carter, Bailey and Aubrey; her great great grandchildren, Henry, Millie Kate, Deklan and Ella Jean; her siblings, Jack Hendershot of Cedar Falls and Nancy Ryan of Newton, Iowa; and her siblings-in-law, Ella Hendershot of Newton, Iowa and Ed Shirley of Centerville. She is also survived by nine step-grandchildren, sixteen step-great-grandchildren and one step-great-great grandchild.
Visitation was held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Barr Memorial Chapel (1919 Ave F, Fort Madison, IA 52627). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
A memorial has been established, contributions may be left at Barr Memorial Chapel.
