It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Donald Leon Hansen of Washington, Iowa, born in Fairfield, Iowa, who passed away on February 14, 2024, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, George Hansen and Ruby Hansen (Kemmel); his wife Betty Louise Van DeVoorde; and his siblings, George Jr., Betty Massengill and Lottie Rambo.
He is survived by: his children, Dan Hansen (Donna) of Colorado Springs, CO, Deborah Hansen-Pena (Arturo Pena), Denise Tschantz (Rusty) of Washington, Dennis Hansen of Riverside and Doug Hansen (Susan) of Holly, CO; and his grandchildren, Melissa Turner (Tony), Trevor Tschantz (Vani), Elizabeth Hanshaw (Trevor), Luisa Pena (Adrian Spano), Marco Pena, Ryan Hansen, Jennifer Niebuhr (Dave) and Chrissy Beard (Gabe). He is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be designated to Hospice of Washington County or the United Presbyterian Home.
