He was predeceased by: his parents, George Albert and Nellie Marie Chalupa (Schneider); his daughter Cindy Hines; his granddaughter Hope Chalupa; and his sisters, Margaret Fry, Marjorie McKinstry, Betty Zehr, Virginia Houseal and Donna Marsh.
He is survived by: his wife Virginia Chalupa of Washington, Iowa; his children, Sherry Shelton of Daphne, Alabama, Jennifer Gardner (Dave) of Douds, Iowa, Jonathan Chalupa (LeeAnn) of Wellman, Iowa and Jason Chalupa (Jillian) of Washington, Iowa; his grandchildren, Wendy Boyce (Aric), Eli, Ian Arbogast, Jared Shelton (Cortney), Hannah, Hailey, Matthew Chalupa, Kynsley and Kylo Chalupa; and his siblings, Jean Jacoby of Buena Vista, California, JoAnn Swift of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Darrell Chalupa of Wayland, Iowa, Doug Chalupa (Annette) of Washington, Iowa, Carl Chalupa (Martha) of Washington, Iowa, Gerry Farrier of Washington, Iowa and Vicki Anderson of Wayland, Iowa. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 8th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home (116 E Main St, Washington, IA 52353). A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 9th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
