He was predeceased by: his parents, J. Gordon Hollis and Melva Hollis (Miller); and his wife Betty O. Torkelson. He is survived by: his children, Heidi Zona (Mark) of South Barrington, IL and Blake Hollis (Sally) of Waterloo; his grandchildren, Peyton Zona, Evan Zona, Reid Zona, Quinn Zona, Thatcher Hollis (Kayelee) and Chase Hollis; and his sisters, Sheryl Snyder (Charles) of New Oxford, PA and Joyce Brandhorst (Richard) of Waterloo.

Visitation was held on Friday, October 16th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Tower Park (4140 Kimball Ave, Waterloo, IA 50701). A funeral service was held on Saturday, October 17th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Prairie Lakes Church (118 High St, Waterloo, IA 50703).
