It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dennis Sommer of Waterloo, Iowa, who passed away on January 19, 2026, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Sommer and Maria Fink Sommer; and his sisters, Delores Hummel (Jerry) and Donna Jung (Dale). He is survived by: his wife Bonnie Sommer; his children, Brenda Buck (Jeff) and Jeff Sommer; and his grandsons, Justin, Jesse Buck and Isaac Sommer. He is also survived by seven great- grandchildren.

Memorials may be directed to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church or American Legion Becker-Chapman Post 138.
