With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Dorothy Cleghorn (Waterloo, Iowa), whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Dorothy left this world on August 3, 2025 at the age of 97, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. She was predeceased by: her parents, Paul Shonka and Laura Hearn Shonka; her husband Irmel Bearbower; her former husband Donald Cleghorn; her siblings, Paul Shonka and Ivadel Luloff; her daughters-in-law, Sheryl Bearbower and Karla Bearbower; and her stepdaughter Diane Stauffenberg.
She is survived by: her children, Randy Bearbower (Janice) of Waterloo, Steve Bearbower of Hudson and Janet Williams (Bill) of Hudson; her stepchildren, Charlie Cleghorn (Mona) of Panama City, Fla., Carol Fiepel of Mokena and Don Cleghorn (Tamara) of Farmers Branch, Texas; and her close friend Don Porter. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 7th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday, August 8th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 8th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church (614 Randolph St, Waterloo, IA 50702).
