We are sad to announce that on April 16, 2024, at the age of 91, Eugene Matthews of Waterloo, Iowa, born in Orchard, Iowa passed away. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Eugene Matthews to pay them a last tribute.

He was predeceased by : his parents, Roy A. Matthews and Reka M. Matthews (Luecht); his son Owen Matthews; his siblings, Ruth I. Deets and Marvin Matthews; and his brother-in-law Fred Winning.

He is survived by : his wife Helen Winning of Waterloo; his sons, Bruce Matthews (Fran) of Reinbeck, Scott Matthews (Renee) of Oelwein and Timothy Matthews of Lawler; and his siblings, Roy Matthews Jr. (Janice) of Charles City, Dolores Winning of Independence, Carol Lines (Harley) of Marble Rock and Linda Platz (Dave) of Orchard. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren; and many, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation was held on Saturday, April 20th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Locke Garden View Chapel (3655 Logan Ave, Waterloo, IA 50703). A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 20th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Saturday, April 20th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the Memories Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Cedar Falls Gospel Hall.
