With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Gary Gerst of Waterloo, Iowa, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on March 12, 2026 at the age of 78. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Eugene Gerst and Maxine Gerst (Helm); his wife Donna Rainsberger; his daughter Lori Gerst; his brother Mike Gerst; and his sisters-in-law, Nancy Gerst and Renee Gerst.
He is survived by: his children, Troy Gerst (Denise) and Tammy Laughlin (Scott); his siblings, Richard Gerst, Dennis Gerst, Dave Gerst and Cathy Knapp (Dave); and his grandchildren, Sam Gerst (Emily), Emily Hoffman (Bryce), Scott Laughlin, Skylar Laughlin and Ty Laughlin. He is also survived by six great grandchildren.
