He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Gorder and Evelyn Van Gorder (Grossman); his sister Dorothy Gosse; and his niece Sharon Miller. He is survived by: his wife Dianne Van Gorder of Waterloo; his sons, Michael Van Gorder (Angela) of Ankeny and Neil Van Gorder of Las Cruces, NM; his grandchildren, Erika and Evan; his niece Susan Leibold (Mark) of Fort Atkinson; his nephew Scott Gosse of North Carolina; and his great-nephew Andy Gosse (Lindsey) of Davenport.
Visitation was held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Waterloo (434 Baltimore St, Waterloo, IA 50701). A memorial service was held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
Memorials may be directed to the church or the Northeast Iowa Food Bank.
