He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Francis and Nellie Mae Gales (Van Slyke); and his brothers, David Gales and William Gales. He is survived by: his wife Janet Louise Rains of Van Horne, Iowa; his children, Jacob Gales (Katherine) of Rochester, Minnesota, Jenna Gales of Rochester, Jolene Gales of Coralville and Julie Huschak (Robert) of Princeton, Texas; his siblings, Rick Gales (Ann) of Seguin, Texas, Paula Wilson (Dale) of Harpers Ferry, Peggy Biwer (Jim) of Eden Prairie and Bev Clark (Tom) of Waterloo; his sister-in-law Kathy Gales; and his grandchildren, Robin Gales, Adelynne Gales, Isla Huschak, Robert Huschak, Reed Gales and Levi Gales.
Visitation was held on Thursday, July 17th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday, July 18th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service was held on Friday, July 18th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories (965 Home Plaza, Waterloo, IA 50701). A burial was held on Friday, July 18th 2025 at 11:45 AM at the Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery (3430 W 4th St, Waterloo, IA 50701).
