He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Baker and Dorothy Jeanne Meyers (McGuire); his stepfather Durlin Meyers; his former wife Sumiko Baba; his daughter Susan Swehla; his parents-in-law, John and Kate Mrzlak; his siblings-in-law, Tony Mrzlak, Dick Jensen, Steve Langan, Terry Gilligan, Bobbie Joens and Billie Mrzlak; and his niece Bridget Langan.
He is survived by: his wife Mary; his siblings, Jim Baker, Nancy Welter, Jill Sullivan, Ralph "Skip" Reinertson and Maggie Gilligan; his daughters, Amber "Susan" (Mark Swehla) and Danielle Lea; his grandchildren, Shannon Brown, Chelsea Richardson, Kendra Frazier, Luke Swehla, Elijah Swehla, Caleb Swehla, Matilda Carne, Wesley Carne and Arthur Carne; and his great grandchildren, Ashlyn, Myla, Dominic, Melodi, Maisey, Mera, Gemma, Lucy, Max and Noah.
Memorial contributions may be directed in Michael's name to the Waterloo Cedar Valley Hospice and the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown.
