She was predeceased by : her parents, Richard Schares and Rosemary Schares (Federspiel); her mother-in-law Patricia Cole; her sister-in-law Glori-Ann Byrd; her grandson Aiden Werning; and her great grandchild Loletta Phetmanysay.

She is survived by : her husband Robert Cole; her children, Nikki Werning (Randy) and Clint Cole (Kristen); her siblings, Rodney Schares (Lynn), Randy Schares (Bobbie), Robin (Rick Mount), Rusty Schares and Renee (David Schares); her father-in-law Dick Cole; her sisters-in-law, Leslie Cole, Jody Dvorak and Suzanne Davis; her grandchildren, Madison (Daniel Phetmanysay), Noah Werning, Anna Werning and Jillian Werning; and her great grandchild Gwendolyn Phetmanysay. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Monday, April 29th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service. A reception was held on Monday, April 29th 2024 at 4:00 PM at the Screaming Eagle Bar and Grill (300 West Ridgeway Ave., Waterloo, IA 50701).
