Sandra Jean Carmichael Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Sandra Jean Carmichael of Waterloo, Iowa, who passed away on March 11, 2026 at the age of 85. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

In the vast expanse of eternity, Sandra shall find rest, cradled in the arms of everlasting peace. And as we bid Sandra farewell, her loved ones carry with them the precious gift of her memory, a beacon of hope guiding them through the shadows of sorrow towards the light of a new dawn.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Carl Eldhardt and Doris Eldhardt (Brown); and her daughters, Wanda Lee Diaz and Suzette Cherrie White. She is survived by: her children, Sandra Jean Carmichael MD of Rising Fawn, Professor Walidah Imarisha of Portland and Carl Carmichael; and her sisters, Sherry E. Sherman of Waterloo and Sue Divis of Sioux City, Iowa. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 3 nieces and 2 nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alaska Conservation Foundation.
