We announce the death of Shirley Lorraine Wilson of Waterloo, Iowa, who passed away on September 25, 2026, at the age of 98. Shirley will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Edgar Reisser and Esther Reisser; her husband Robert B. Wilson; her children, Diane and Leonard; her siblings, Tom Reisser and Dorothy Benesh; her grandson Jonnie Deutsch; and her son-in-law Rick Vollenweider.
She is survived by: her children, Victoria Vollenweider of Kansas, Teresa McDonald (Terrance) of Iowa City, Gregory Wilson (Mary) of Delaware, Stephen Wilson of Waterloo, Christopher Wilson (Sue) of Waterloo, Jeffrey Wilson (Toni) of Waterloo, Cecilia Wilson of Waterloo, Rosemary Deutsch (Rob) of Waterloo, Dennis Wilson (Jennifer) of Johnston, Linda Bearbower (Steve) of Waterloo and Francis Wilson (Toni) of Urbandale. She is also survived by 28 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Edward Catholic Church (1423 Kimball Ave, Waterloo, IA 50701). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Shirley's honor may be directed to Columbus Catholic High School or the Cedar Valley Hospice Home.
