He was predeceased by: his parents, Vivian J. Riley and Marguerite Schmitt Riley; and his stepgrandson Andy Koch. He is survived by: his wife Marge Zieser of Waterloo; his children, William Riley (Peggy) of Waterloo and Rachel Zaputil (Tim) of Jesup; his stepchildren, David Zieser (Tammy), Curt Zieser (Sherry), Julie Koch (Jim), Tammy Zieser (Tom Hudson) and Emily Hodgin (Brandon); and his brothers, Russ Riley (Claudia) of Livermore, CA, John Riley (Barbara Talbott) of Sonoma, CA and Dave Riley (Joyce) of Waterloo. He is also survived by many step grandchildren and many step great grandchildren.

To quote Steve "A donation to a memorial could live a long time and the flowers will be gone in a week". In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Edward Catholic Church, Cedar Valley Catholic Schools, or Cedar Valley Hospice.
