He is survived by: his sons, Nick Schmit (Paige), Brad Schmit (Andrea) of Cedar Falls, Ty Schmit (Caitlin) of Fishers, IN and Jay Schmit (Madi) of Cedar Falls; his grandchildren, Annie, Molly, Michael, Jordan, Lennon, Callie, Sloane, Sadie, Landry, Lane and Jude; and his siblings, Ginny Lyon, Dr. Don Schmit (Carrie), Dick Schmit (Jeanne) and Dave Schmit. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
