She was predeceased by: her parents, Everett D. "Bud" Smith and Kathleen Smith (Primmer); her husband Curtis F. Tomkins; her granddaughter Klarissa Wildeboer-Tomkins; and her sister Sheryl Smith.

She is survived by: her children, Curtis Tomkins (Nicke) of Waterloo and Christine Tomkins-Mullen of Washington, DC; and her brothers, Dwight Smith of Cedar Falls and Daniel Smith (Vicki) of Varna, IL. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
