The world bids farewell to Sydney Niemann of Waterloo, Iowa, departing on October 11, 2025 at the age of 88. Sydney leaves behind memories cherished by the community. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Lester Rashid and Roma Speer Rashid; her husband Jack; and her brother William (Bill). She is survived by: her children, Julie Schoonover of Waterloo, Kathy McClain (Kevin) of Waterloo and Jeff Niemann (Troy Weiland) of Holland, MI; and her grandchildren, Joshua Schoonover (Jillian), Ashley Schoonover, Amanda Coons (Mike), Abby McClain (Benny Borremans) and Connor McClain (Shannon). She is also survived by seven great grandchildren, as well as cherished cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 21st 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Tower Park (4140 Kimball Ave, Waterloo, IA 50701). A vigil service will be held on Tuesday, October 21st 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, October 22nd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Edward Catholic Church (1423 Kimball Ave, Waterloo, IA 50702).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Edward's Catholic Church or Cedar Valley Hospice, both in Waterloo, and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
