He was predeceased by: his son Mark Simon; his parent Mary West; and his grandparents, Thomas and Buelah Simon. He is survived by: his wife June Russell; his sons, Aaron Simon (Chantel) of Waukee and Eric Simon (Crystal) of Pella; his grandchildren, Nathan Simon, Katie Tatar (Gavin), Emily Simon, Carson Simon (Mackenzie), Chaybrin Puryear (Tom), Cabria Olsen (Hamzan), Ciana Olsen (Jason), Blayne and Trenton Shawler; his great grandchild Bailey Simon (Cerilia Puryear); and his brother Tom West (Kathy) of Waukee.

80, of Waukee, Iowa, went home to be with the Lord on Veterans Day Tuesday, November 11, 2025, following a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's and dementia.
