She was predeceased by: her parents, Kenneth Smith and Lyla Smith (Solberg); her husband Roger H. Freese; her siblings, Ronald, Roderick Smith, Karen Donahue, Linda Sires and Patty Gilman; her sister-in-law JoAnn Tackman (Ervin); her nephew Brent Smith; and her great-nephew Justin Cahoon.
She is survived by: her daughter Pamela Mitchell (Allen Quandahl) of Waukon; her grandchildren, Nicole Schulte of Waterville, Lindsey Deason (Paul) of Waterville and Loren Mitchell (Ashley) of Waterville; her great grandchildren, Reid, Claire, Jakob Schulte, Kaylin, Mitch, Nick, Will Deason, Bexley and Witten Mitchell; her siblings, Dennis Smith (Cindy) of Monona, IA, Randy Smith (Pam) of Waukon, Fred Smith (Geralyn) of Waukon, Greg Smith (Kristie) of Waukon and Peggy Wilson (Jim) of Prairie du Chien; and her sisters-in-law, Theresa Smith of Decorah and Paula Sisler (Serge) of Anamosa. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
