He was predeceased by: his mother Verna Lee Schmidt (Mehmen); his sister Denise Smith; his grandparents, Jake, Thelma Mehmen, Leonard Ernest and Bethel Schmidt; his parents-in-law, Lloyd and Irene Koob; his cousins, Terry Reuscher and Randy Mehmen; his aunts, Cloris Mehmen, Lois Mehmen and Judy Heine; his uncle Jay Mehmen; and his pets, Cash, Pete and Trigger.

He is survived by: his father Leonard Junior Schmidt of Waverly; his wife Barb of Waverly; his children, Lindsay Schmidt and Jason Schmidt (Sakai) of Missoula, Montana; his pet Meadow; his siblings, Brenda Schmidt of Shell Rock, Jeff Schmidt (Tracy) of Lisbon and Connie Yanda (Blake) of Waverly; and his brother-in-law Steve Smith of Waverly. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice, St. Paul's Lutheran Church, or to the family for later designation in Brad's honor.
