He is survived by: his mother Willa Joyce Schmadeke (Kielman) of Shell Rock; his wife Taunia Schmadeke of Waverly; his children, John Shafer of Pennsylvania, Daniel Shafer (Lee) of Greene and Marj Spree (Shane) of Shell Rock; his grandchildren, Johnathon Shafer, Rebekah Shafer, Daniel Shafer Jr. (DJ), Michael Shafer, Ann Marie Shafer, Levi Neiman, Reno Neiman, Marine Lance Corporal and Willum Spree (Alex Spree); and his sisters, Jenice Engel (Lee) of Clarksville and Tamara Brown (Lance) of Waverly. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren.
