With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Merlene Clair DeVries of Waverly, Iowa, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on May 2, 2025 at the age of 85. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As Merlene Clair departs from this earthly realm, her essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though Merlene Clair may no longer walk beside us, her spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy Merlene Clair leaves behind.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Merland "Merle" Knoll and Joyce Knoll; her husband John P. "Chick" DeVries; her son Paul Hulbert; and her brother Marvin Knoll.
She is survived by: her son Bart Hulbert (Norma) of Denver; and her brothers, Russel Knoll of Cedar Falls, Robert Knoll (Carole) of Turtle Lake, WI and David Knoll (Linda) of Red Wing, MN.. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
