He is survived by: his wife Catherine (Schrage); his children, Tom Johnston (Tonya), Carman Wirtz (Jeff), Jessica Johnston and Jace Johnston; and his grandchildren, Brea, Brenna, Olivia, Jay, Tyler and Kelsey. He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 7th 2026 from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM at the Waverly Civic Center (200 1st St NE, Waverly, IA 50677).
