She was predeceased by : her parents, Ora George and Florence Boardman (Rhodes); her husband James "Roy" Mills; her sons, Roy James and Roger Bryce Mills; her sister Dorthea Boardman; her granddaughters, Dawn, Pam and Tara; her great grandchild Makinley; and her son-in-law Leland.

She is survived by : her children, Karen Franklin of Odessa, MO, Colleen Burt (Richard) of Urbandale, IA, Mary Kathleen Linn (Jean) of Des Moines, IA, Kevin Mills (Wendy) of Marathon, IA and LuAnn Reese (John) of Laurens, IA. She is also survived by grandchildren; great grandchildren; great great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Darlene Fritzinger wrote a sympathy message

“Sad to hear of the passing of Darlene. She was a very strong, kind woman who spoke her mind. I was a small part of her life, but did give her 3 beautiful grand children. I knew I was always welcomed in her home. May God guide and comfort you through this time. Darlene Mills Fritzinger”
