He was predeceased by: his parents, Vera Bailey and Forrest Bailey; his cousins, Carl Rankin and Gary Bailey; and his son Eric.

He is survived by: his friend Tomanori Matsuda of Japan; his cousins, David Ellingsworth and Forrest Kent Ellingsworth; his wife Peggy Lynn Freitag; his daughter Kari Freitag (Steve); and his daughter-in-law Machelle. He is also survived by three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and four nephews.
