He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell E. Grout and Luella Grout (Winther). He is survived by: his wife Linda Pedersen of West Branch; his children, Gene Grout (Trina Levy) of Raleigh, Janie Harney (Dan) of Cedar Rapids, Lindsey Lynch (Ryan) of West Branch, Gary Gates (Stacey) of West Liberty, Nanci Wieneke (Scott) of West Branch and Wendi Hayden (Chuck) of Iowa City; and his grandchildren, Mae, Gwen Harney, Tate, Cam Lynch, Kyle, Sean, Madison Gates, Dirk Wieneke, Miranda Dlhy, Reese and Quinn Hayden.
