He was predeceased by: his parents, Cloyce Vinton Maxwell and Nina Marie Maxwell (Oge); his wife Shirley Westercamp; and his siblings, Bill, Gene Maxwell and Judy Moyer.

He is survived by: his children, Yvonne Zlomke (Kraig) of West Burlington and Steven Maxwell (Wendy) of Burlington; his grandchildren, Rich, Bobby, Stephanie, Dannielle and Thadeous; and his sister Karen Ash of Birmingham, IA. He is also survived by his sisters-in- law's and brother-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial has been established in his memory for the Peace Lutheran Church and the SEI Regional Hospice.
