It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Carol Deanne Sweem (West Des Moines, Iowa), who passed away on April 8, 2024, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Carol Deanne Sweem to pay them a last tribute.

She was predeceased by : her parents, Dean Bortz and Carolyn Bortz; and her siblings, Bob Bortz and Linda Snape-Newberry. She is survived by : her husband Don; her children, Cyndi Miller (Jim), Steve Sweem (Sue) and Lori Stevenson (Chad); her grandchildren, Brian Miller (Tonya), Matt Miller, Cari Stubbs (Trey), Daniel Miller, Tyler Sweem (Bailey), Kristin Sweem, Alex Sweem, Andy Stevenson, Molly Stevenson and Ryan Stevenson; and her great grandchildren, James, Olivia Miller, Calvin and Niall Stubbs. She is also survived by extended family and dear friends.

Visitation was held on Saturday, April 27th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Valley Church (4343 Fuller Rd, West Des Moines, IA 50265). A memorial service was held on Saturday, April 27th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location.
