She was predeceased by: her parents, Lawrence Fickel and Helen Ruth Fickel. She is survived by: her husband Alvin Overbaugh; her children, Jennifer Slauson of Waukee and Jeremy Overbaugh (Julie) of Ankeny; her grandchildren, Katie, Ty, Chris, Emily, Nick, Cameron, Nolan and Jack; and her brothers, Steve Fickel of Cedar Rapids and Gary Fickel (Diane) of Iowa City. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 17th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Ankeny Presbyterian Church (317 SE Trilein Dr, Ankeny, IA 50021). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 18th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, Cathy's family welcomes donations in her memory to Make-A-Wish Iowa, the Child Life Program at Blank Children's Hospital and Ankeny Presbyterian Church.
