John W. Acrea Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of John W. Acrea of West Des Moines, Iowa, who passed away on September 4, 2025. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of John W. Acrea to pay them a last tribute.
In the vast expanse of eternity, John shall find rest, cradled in the arms of everlasting peace. And as we bid John farewell, his loved ones carry with them the precious gift of his memory, a beacon of hope guiding them through the shadows of sorrow towards the light of a new dawn.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Acrea and Anne Acrea (Kirlin); and his sisters, Shirley Allen (Bill) and Beverley Acrea. He is survived by: his brothers, Mark Acrea and Harry Acrea (Joyce). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 11th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the St. Joseph Chapel, Dowling Catholic High School (1400 Buffalo Rd, West Des Moines, IA 50265). A rosary will be held on Thursday, September 11th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A Mass will be held on Friday, September 12th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Basilica of St. John (1915 University Ave, Des Moines, IA 50314).
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Dowling Catholic High School.
