With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Kathryn L Schmid (West Des Moines, Iowa), whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Kathryn left this world on August 26, 2025 at the age of 80, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

In the vast expanse of eternity, Kathryn shall find rest, cradled in the arms of everlasting peace. And as we bid Kathryn farewell, her loved ones carry with them the precious gift of her memory, a beacon of hope guiding them through the shadows of sorrow towards the light of a new dawn.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Louis Cronk and Dorothy Cronk; her sister Betty Lou Bouma; and her former husband Jim. She is survived by: her sister Mary Vincer of Rockford, IL; her children, Chris Terhark (Brian) of Clive, IA, Joe Schmid (Sarah) of Pittsburgh, PA and Sue Furst (Charlie) of Elmhurst, IL; her granddaughters, Emily and Grace Terhark; and her spouse Kate.
