She was predeceased by: her parents, Oliver Brown and Lorena Brown (Anderson); her brothers, William Brown and Grover Brown; her sisters-in-law, Nancy Brown and Sue Brown; and her nephew James Brown.

She is survived by: her sons, Douglas Eckhart (Krista) and Brian Eckhart (Wendy) of Windsor Heights; her grandchildren, Nicholas Eckhart (Waukee), Natalie Eckhart (West Des Moines), Nicole Eckhart (West Des Moines), Joey Eckhart (Windsor Heights) and Daniel Eckhart (West Des Moines); her great grandchildren, Aubrey Eckhart and Tommi Roach; her sibling Detroit; and her former husband Joseph "Chris" Eckhart. She is also survived by extended family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Everystep Kavanaugh House.
