Martin McGrane Obituary

We are sad to announce that on December 2, 2023, at the age of 80, Martin McGrane of West Des Moines, Iowa passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by : his parents, Bert McGrane and Veronica McGrane; and his siblings, Miriam Martin, Michael McGrane and Bill McGrane.

He is survived by : his wife Sandy; his children, Kelly Cirone (Michael) of Kansas City, Maura George (Derik) of Castle Rock, Molly McGrane-Cleary (Corbin) of Grosse Pointe, Mich, Mark McGrane of Minneapolis and Danny McGrane of Pittsburgh; his grandchildren, Evan, Aubrey, Alex George and Freddy Cleary; and his sister Betsy Haberer of Boone. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and life long friends.

In retirement, Marty wrote and published a humorous, heartfelt memoir, California Calling, during the Covid-19 lockdown.

He loved history, and was a longtime chairman of the Friends of Jesse James Foundation.
