She was predeceased by: her parents, Van Columbus and Lula James Pryor; her husband Thomas L. Hickman; her children, Vernell Warren Hall and George Edward Warren; her adoptive son Kenneth Allen Miller; her siblings, Olia, Maria, Steptoria, Emily, Mandie Edith, Bettie, Jessie, Bert, Steven, Percy, Will Thomas and Van Columbus Jr.; and her brother-in-law Sidney Warren.
She is survived by: her daughters, Nancy, Yvonne Warren Burrell, Zeola Fay Mason, Zola Mae Garrett of Des Moines, IA and Zelle Kay Coleman (Alfred) of San Jose, CA.; her grandchildren, Mark Burrell (Courtney), Marcel Baker, Sonya Pierce (Markell), Robert Garrett, Michael Mason, Kimberlee Gregory, Clifford Garrett, Tylonda Mason (Orlando), Tony Burrell (Amy), Kisha Lovejoy, Tracie Burrell, Tim Rice and Jermaine Johnson; her adoptive daughters, Martha Buchanan and Julie Collins of Grimes, IA; her granddaughter Marcella Edmonds of Des Moines, IA; her niece Barbara Jean Pryor of Montgomery, IL; her brother-in-law Stanley Warren (Mary) of Holly Springs, MS.; and her great grandchild Bailey Marie Burrell. She is also survived by 22 great-grandchildren and many great-great- grandchildren, along with a host of family and friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 26th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Faith Tabernacle Church of God in Christ (131 9th St, West Des Moines, IA 50265). A celebration of life was held on Friday, September 26th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
