He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph W. Menke and Louise Menke (Mohrfeld); and his siblings, Carl Menke, Robert "Peanuts" Menke, David Menke, Marcella Kempker, Doris Kempker, Floreen Fuerman, Delores Bohnenkamp, Miriam Holtkamp, Connie Conrad and Vera Evans.
He is survived by: his wife Helen Louise Fritz of West Point; his children, Larry Menke (Tiffany) of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, Darrell Menke (Laura) of Hillsboro, Iowa, Emily Welding (Randy) of West Point and Kimberly Menke (Joe Galvin) of Dubuque, Iowa; and his sisters, Betty Merschman, JoAnn Landers, Cathy Holtkamp (Larry) and Mary Jo Koller. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; one step-granddaughter; great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial has been established for the West Point Fire and Rescue and Holy Trinity Catholic Schools Daycare, contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel.
