She was predeceased by: her parents, John Mercer and Dorothy Mercer (Reeves); her son Gary Cooper; her grandchildren, Carmen Cooper, Cody Cooper and Bill Cooper; her sister Phyliss Wendel (Walt); and her brothers-in-law, Jay Johnson and Gary Derrick.
She is survived by: her children, Joan "Jo" Cooper of Onawa, Ray Cooper (Lori) of Sioux City, David Cooper (Becki) of Whiting, Dale Cooper (Renee) of Whiting and Karen Lewis (Dan) of Sioux City, Iowa; her daughter-in-law Lori Cooper of Atlantic, Iowa; and her sisters, Linda Johnson of Onawa, Sharon DeVos (Mike) of Sergeant Bluff, Betty "Debbie" Derrick of Sergeant Bluff and Elaine Vaughn of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa. She is also survived by eighteen grandchildren; fifty-two great-grandchildren; nineteen great-great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Sunday, September 14th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and at 7:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 15th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Whiting Christian Church (716 West St, Whiting, IA 51063).
