He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Mews and Edna Mews (Maas); and his sister Joan Hook. He is survived by: his wife Velma Martinson; his children, Kenneth Mews of Marengo, Kathryn Dermody (Richard) of Houston, Keith Mews (Lynne) of Williamsburg and Kay Garringer (Kevin) of Williamsburg; his grandchildren, Thomas Mews, Grant Dermody, Colton Mews, Gage Mews (Dana), Cameron Mews, Layton Garringer (Amelia) and Mallory Garringer; his great grandchildren, Hunter and Oaklynn Garringer; his sister Dorcas Sherman (Melvin); and his siblings-in-law, Robert Hook, Annabelle Richardson, Maxine Jeske, Shirley Owens and Donald Martinson.

A memorial fund has been established for St. Paul Lutheran Church or Essence of Life Hospice.
