She was predeceased by: her parents, Eldon Andrew and Lillian Mabel Brown (Honeyman); her son Rick Balvanz; and her brother Edwin Brown. She is survived by: her children, Doug Balvanz (Mary Foley Balvanz) of Ankeny, Greg Balvanz (Melissa) of Fairbanks and Ann Balvanz (Tom Kerr) of Cedar Rapids; her daughter-in-law Pam Balvanz of Cedar Rapids; her grandchildren, Jenny Leichsenring (Brad), Chad Balvanz (Kristi), Jason Balvanz (Patty), Chris Balvanz (Michelle), Angela Yagi (Chris), Bradley Balvanz, Micaela Bruce (Logan), Adam Balvanz, Emma Balvanz, William Balvanz, Amber Jacobs (Philip), Natasha Timm (Jacob) and Jesse Bruer; her great grandchildren, Sarah Authier, Hannah Maier (Brandon), Noah Leichsenring (Alyssa), Robert Costley, Courtney Van Steenhuyse (Evan), Jackie Messerly, Morgan Fitzgerald, Branden Balvanz, Julia Balvanz, Josephine Yagi, Jordan Jacobs and Colin Jacobs; her great great grandchildren, Ace Authier, Kingston Authier and Grayson Messerly; and her sister Ellie Shurts (Joe) of Kimberling City, Missouri. She is also survived by four nephews, and two nieces.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 25th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Powell Funeral Home (407 N Highland St, Williamsburg, IA 52361). A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 25th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
