He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Schaefer and Florence Schaefer (Folkmann); and his siblings, Duane Schaefer and Judith Bush (Karl). He is survived by: his sibling's children, Michael Bush of Fairfax, David Bush of Hiawatha, Brad Schaefer (Greer Wellstead) of Des Moines and Laura Langenberg (Bryan) of Lakeland; and his sister-in-law Susan Schaefer of North English.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 18th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Powell Funeral Home-Williamsburg (407 N Highland St, Williamsburg, IA 52361). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 19th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Paul Lutheran Church (500 Clark St, Williamsburg, IA 52361).
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established for the Lutheran Interparish School or St. Paul Lutheran Church.
