As we bid Darrell Eugene farewell, let us not mourn the absence of his physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of his spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For Darrell Eugene is not truly gone, but merely transformed, his energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Schenk and Francys Helphrey Schenk; and his brother-in-law Ray Robertson. He is survived by: his children, Michelle Bentler of Ft. Madison and Kelvin Schenk (Cay) of Albuquerque; his grandchildren, Kaitlyn Schmelzer (Matthew), Isa and Alex Schenk; his great grandchild Maeve Schmelzer; and his sister Mary Jane Robertson of Mediapolis. He is also survived by one niece, nephews and many cousins.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 26th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Elliott Funeral Chapel (1 Redbud Ln, New London, IA 52645). A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 26th 2025 at 4:15 PM at the Trinity Cemetery.
