She was predeceased by: her parents, Gerald Buffington and Verena Buffington (Thompson); her husband Richard "Dick" Nelson; and her brother Phillip Buffington. She is survived by: her children, Jananne Allmeyer (George) of Lindsay, Jacqueline Nelson of North Liberty, Rich Nelson of Little Rock and Ryan Nelson (Mihaela) of Denver Colorado; her grandchildren, Drew Allmeyer, Sean Allmeyer (Cristy), Lauren Allmeyer, Tapoa Nelson, Michael Nelson, Tara Stiner, Tiffany Nelson and Adrian O'Melveny; her great grandchildren, Ester Nelson, Titus Nelson, Collete Allmeyer, Sabrina Allmeyer, Daisy Andrews and Alice Stiner; and her sister-in-law Robyn Buffington. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.

A memorial has been established for Impact Ministries in Maribeth's name.
