He was predeceased by : his wife Phyllis Fayne Davis; his granddaughter Mary Frances; his friends, Wayne Breeding, Hubert "Hubie" Wilkinson and Herbert Wilkinson; and his parents, Clem Mitchell and Vera Mitchell.

He is survived by : his children, Debra J. Mitchell (Larry Phillips), Maurice D. Mitchell Jr. (Lisa), Marvin R. Mitchell and Joni L. Schnoes (David); his grandchildren, Mason, Morgan, Tucker, Grant, Tanner, Michael and Mara; his sons, Maury and Marv; and his close friends, Hube, Herb Wilkinson and Maurice. He is also survived by children and grandchildren: Our Dad and Grandpa.

Memorial contributions can be made to VFW Post 8142 in Winterset, Iowa.
