We announce the death of Ron Rittgers of Winterset, Iowa, who passed away on May 28, 2026, at the age of 83. Ron will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Anthony'Theodore' Rittgers and Florence Rittgers (Thompson); his cousin Rex Rittgers; Mary Ann and Charlie Roberts.

He is survived by: his daughter Jennifer Elaine (Amy); his former wife Suzette Smedes (Jacobe); his daughter Teresa Smedes; his brother Anthony "Tony" Rittgers (Diane); his grandchildren, Brooke Cole (Jakob), Kate Bower, Jakob Bower (Michelle), Tristan, Kayla and Chloe; his great grandchildren, Bailey and Jack; his nephew Andy; his nieces, Laura and Sara; and his close friend Dwayne Smedes.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for a future college scholarship.
