She was predeceased by: her father John H. Hunter; her sons-in-law, Scott Shaffer and Duane Hardy; her great grandchild William Gabriel Reed; her siblings, Alfred Cunningham (Mildred), Lucille McConnell (Wayne), Leonard Hunter (Maragaret) and Winifred Bateman (Virgil); and her in-laws, Virgil, Rowena Reed (McFarland), Eleanor Yeoman (Alvin) and Virginia Breitbach (Raymond).
She is survived by: her mother Bertha "Belle" Hunter (VanLaningham); her spouse Noble Character; and her children, Larry Reed (Jennifer) of Clermont, IA, Gail Beasley (Rick) of Winthrop, IA, Jon Reed (Jan) of Winthrop, IA and Jane Weston (Gary) of Independence, IA. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, thirty-six great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, many nieces, nephews, and close family friends.
Visitation was held on Thursday, June 5th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday, June 6th 2025 at 9:30 AM. A funeral service was held on Friday, June 6th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Reiff Family Center - Independence (216 3rd Ave SE, Independence, IA 50644).
