Merfeld and Marie Merfeld (Simon); his former wife Sue; his siblings, Dorothy Tigges (Marty), Lawrence "Larry", Merlin (Mary), Bernard, William "Bill" Merfeld and Diane Schemmel (Don); his brother-in-law Bill Smith; and his children-in-law, Dan Heber and Iris Merfeld.
He is survived by: his wife Connie; his children, Jay Merfeld (Angel Schiffer) of Dubuque, Brett Merfeld (Julie) of Zwingle, Tresa Heber of Dubuque, Jenifer Pickel (Ed) of St. Donatus and Tom Merfeld (Katie Spears) of Zwingle; his stepson Bryan Heiar (Kim) of Peosta; his grandchildren, Mark Heber, Nick Merfeld (Jessica), Rachel Stevenson (Nick), Megan Duarte (Javon), Zoey Benn, Aubrey Sue Merfeld, Caleb Heiar (Julie) and Alexa Heiar (Trent); his great grandchildren, Mia, Becker and Brooks; his siblings, Millie Dolter (Randy), Shirley Smith, Carol Miller and David Merfeld; and his in-laws, Pat Merfeld and Adele Merfeld.
In lieu of flowers an Eldon Merfeld memorial fund will be established.
