He was predeceased by : his grandparents, Jocum, Ruth Christiansen, Len and Doris Kuther; and his aunts, Ellen Rockoff and Elaine Crawford.

He is survived by : his parents, David J. Christiansen and Donna M. Christiansen; his sister Dana; his brother-in-law Ryan Gillette; his niece Hadley Gillette; his nephew Grayson Gillette; his uncle Dean Kuther; his cousin Mindy McCulley; and his uncles, Barry Rockoff, Dick Kelly and Mark Boada. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Donations may be made in Derek's name to Idaho Make A Wish Foundation, a foundation that was near and dear to his heart.
