“I only knew him as Sgt. Stimmel; a hard as nails but fair Marine Corps Drill Instructor.. He had a hand in forging many Marines, among whom I am one. I held him in very high esteem and he was the model Marine I wanted to become. I haven’t seen or heard from him since the day I graduated on 31 Aug 84, but it’s clear he had an impact.
