He is also survived by many other extended family members and friends.

“Laird was a wonderful friend of more than 50 years. We first met at Fort Gordon, Ga. He was a Military Police captain and I was a Signal Corps captain. Our wives became friends as well. We enjoyed visiting restaurants together, going on picnics and talking about records. He had quite the collection. We even went on vacation together when we were stationed in different Army bases in Arizona. We hadn’t seen each other in years but stayed in touch by phone, card & letter. Condolences to the family.”
